We aren’t building trail yet, but there are plenty of chances to meet other passionate Driftless Hikers and learn more about the trail. We try and host regular presentations with area partners, and hope to soon have on-trail events.

Routes to hike today

The Midwest might not be the first place you think of when you think of long distance hiking trails, but you can see from our list that we’ll be in great company with our neighbors. The Driftless Area, also called Bluff Country, is a corner of Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois, and Wisconsin that was largely untouched by the last glaciation. It is defined by steep bluffs, spring fed streams, and deep woods. It is a working landscape of farms, pastures, woodlands, and towns. We strive to work with our neighbors to bring appreciation for hiking and a new long-distance hiking trail to the area.
